More Models, Fewer Decisions: How to Scale AI Adoption Without Scaling the Bill
We are seeing a common pattern with our clients. Once AI adoption reaches a certain point, costs rise faster than the annual budget can absorb. So what drives these costs, and how do you keep up adoption without budgets becoming the limiting factor? A big part of the answer is how your AI-native development lifecycle is set up, and which models that you use across it.
Many companies deploy AI tools tied to one model provider. That limits the number of models that teams can access and leaves little room to optimize on model costs. Because of that, as AI adoption scales, cost tends to rise linearly with adoption. Model performance also differs by activity, so you want to be able to leverage a wide range of models in your development process, whichever provider they come from.
In a model-agnostic development process, each activity uses the model that is best for that task, at an optimized price. Robosoft uses Grok Build (formerly Cursor) as our primary platform because of the model-agnostic architecture, enabling models from several providers on one platform, across our lifecycle. When a new model is released, we can deploy it on a platform that our teams are already using, creating strong continuity in our operations while using frontier intelligence.
Running a multi-model process does come with its own challenges. With more models available, every engineer has a larger burden to make the right model decisions. It is not realistic to expect people to do their day job and stay on top of model optimization too. In practice, people tend to play it safe and choose the most advanced model for every task, causing the cost benefit to disappear.
The SpaceXSI Router in Grok Build helps engineers make the optimized model choice. Engineers prepare their tasks and the router then sends it to the best model for the job, balancing performance against cost. As a SpaceXSI launch partner, Robosoft was one of the first to run the Router in production processes. Through the router, we’ve seen costing savings of up to 70% when compared to running on just frontier models.

When tasks are matched to the right model, a rise in token consumption no longer brings an equal rise in cost. Teams benefit from higher usage while keeping spend predictable. The SpaceXSI Router makes that possible across your full development lifecycle.
Robosoft brings the experience of running this lifecycle every day in production, and the embedded field engineers who work alongside your team to make it real.
As a SpaceXSI launch partner, Robosoft co-develops AI use cases directly with SpaceXSI and brings those to clients with proven value and impact. Robosoft and SpaceXSI run AI transformation pilots jointly with clients to showcase these use cases. Book an ADLC discovery workshop with your regional contact to get started!
